LIDL OFFERS FREE BIKE CHECK-UPS TO GET HUNDREDS OF GLASWEGIANS BACK ON THEIR BIKES AMID CYCLING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS BUZZ

- Dr Bike mechanics will be making their way round TWENTY Lidl stores throughout Greater Glasgow between Saturday 5th-Sunday 13th August
- As Fresh Food Partner of the Championships, the free initiative bolsters Lidl’s commitment to supporting healthy lifestyles through exercise and helping the nation eat better
31st July 2023: After a ‘wheelie’ big success in July, Official Fresh Food Partner of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, Lidl is ramping up its tournament preparations with another round of free bike servicing surgeries at 20 Greater Glasgow stores between 5th-13th August.
Dr Bike mechanics will be on hand to offer locals of host city Glasgow and cycling enthusiasts visiting for the championships a chance to take their shopping up a gear with a free bicycle health check-up.
Whether doing the weekly shop, heading to a Cycling World Championships event in Glasgow, or preparing for your next day out with the family, the free initiative aims to help support healthy lifestyles through exercise, as well as Lidl’s commitment to help the nation eat better.
Customers can find Dr Bike’s marquees within their local store car park, where they will receive a bike safety check-up from fully qualified mechanics. This will include necessary basic fixes and maintenance advice.
A&E repairs will include replacing worn brake pads, break and gear cables, as well as tightening headsets and adjusting gears. For anything more serious, customers will be given a ‘Dr’s Note’ listing what’s needed to get their bike running smoothly again.

About the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships: Glasgow & across Scotland
From 3 to 13 August 2023, the inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships will be hosted in Glasgow and across Scotland. It will be the single biggest cycling event in history, bringing together for the first time 13 existing UCI World Championships into one mega event.
This historic and innovative event will welcome more than 8,000 amateur and elite cyclists from more than 120 countries and crown over 190 UCI World Champions across 13 UCI World Championships, which includes: BMX Freestyle Flatland; BMX Freestyle Park; BMX Racing; Gran Fondo; Indoor Cycling; Mountain Bike Cross-country; Mountain Bike Downhill; Mountain Bike Cross-country Marathon; Para-cycling Road; Para-cycling Track; Road; Track; Trials.
