23rd November: As the festive shopping season gears up, Lidl GB is revealing the best times for customers to get all of their goods, whilst confirming store opening hours over the Christmas period. The discounter has also shared a top tip for shoppers to get live updates on how busy their local store is.

For those that want to avoid the Christmas crowds, last year’s data1 showed that the busiest times in store were around midday, with the highest levels of footfall being recorded between 12pm and 2pm. Customers who want to miss the midday rush should instead opt to shop between 8am and 10am, or 6pm onwards, which Lidl data showed to be the quietest times in store.

The Friday before Christmas historically sees the most footfall and Lidl expects the same trend this year, with Friday 22nd December gearing up to be the busiest day.

The discounter confirmed it will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, with many of its stores shut for Boxing Day. With opening times varying across its shops, customers are encouraged to check the timings for their local Lidl on its online store finder.

Alternatively, shoppers can access opening times on its rewards app, Lidl Plus, where they can find real-time updates on how busy their chosen store is at any given moment. Those with the Lidl Plus app will also be able to access exclusive rewards and discounts, with coupons landing each day throughout December.

To spread the Christmas spirit even further, it has brought back its annual Toy Bank drive, in partnership with Neighbourly, where customers can donate unopened toys which will go to children who otherwise might not receive a present on Christmas Day.
