  • Lidl to open all stores in England an hour later on Monday 15th July following the European Football Championship final this weekend
  • Move ensures that Lidl colleagues can enjoy some post-match celebrations after watching England in the final

As the country gears up for the highly-anticipated 2024 European Football Championship final this weekend, Lidl GB has announced that all its stores in England will open later than usual the following day regardless of the match outcome.

The match between England and Spain is taking place in Berlin on Sunday 14th July. This special adjustment to store opening hours will come into play on Monday 15th July. This will allow colleagues in England to enjoy some post-match celebrations and - hopefully - revel in the national team's triumph.

Ryan McDonnell, CEO of Lidl GB, said: "We know how much this game means to England fans, and we want to ensure that our colleagues have the chance to celebrate such a significant moment in English football history. We couldn’t achieve our goals without our colleagues, so in recognition of their hard work and dedication, this move will allow them to join in the excitement and show support for the England team, and we wish them the best of luck for the big game.”

Regular hours will resume the following day on Tuesday 16th July and as opening times vary from store to store, shoppers are encouraged to check their nearest Lidl hours via its online locator
