THURSDAY 20 NOVEMBER, LONDON – Dashing through the dough! After three decades of serving communities across the country, Lidl is opening its 1000th UK store and to celebrate the merry milestone, the supermarket is giving shoppers across the country the chance to bring home the festivities with the new Lidl Gingerbread Store! Made entirely out of gingerbread and a pinch of Christmas magic, Lidl is releasing 1,000 of the dough-licious kits for free on Thursday 27 November for festive fans to enjoy.
Modelled on the brand-new East Grinstead store in Sussex, the B-IY (build it yourself) gingerbread kits come with everything you knead from, dough-licious handmade gingerbread panels and smooth icing to candy cane bollards, edible Lidl billboards, and adorable chocolate decorations.
What’s more, to thank shoppers for being part of the journey to the milestone 1,000th store, Lidl is sprinkling more than just icing sugar on top. Gift-wrapped inside ten kits are £100 Lidl Plus vouchers, giving a few lucky winners the chance to save on their big Christmas shop and an extra reason to sing, ‘let it dough’!
Carefully designed and hand-crafted by Sussex-based gingerbread aficionado Fay Miller, alongside the miniature kits available for shoppers, a larger gingerbread replica of the building has also been constructed to commemorate the 1,000th store’s opening. The model will be showcased in the East Grinstead store throughout the festive season, allowing shoppers to marvel at every deliciously intricate detail up-close.
Joanna Gomer, Marketing Director at Lidl GB, commented: “Reaching our 1,000th UK store is a huge milestone for Lidl, and we want to celebrate in a way that everyone across the country can enjoy.
“Our Gingerbread houses have been a customer favourite, so we mixed things up a bit by creating a special kit that not only showcases our new East Grinstead store, but also captures the fun and festive spirit of the season.”
From mince pies to party platters, with a range of high-quality products at affordable prices, Lidl has everything Christmas enthusiasts need to deck the halls and sleigh their shop this Christmas.
Lidl fanatics can get their hands on one of the 1,000 limited-edition Lidl Gingerbread Stores, and be in with the chance of winning £100 towards their Christmas shop, by heading to www.lidlgingerbreadstore.co.uk at 10am on Thursday 27th November.
